HVAC Chiller Service Tech

Overview

Responsibilities

• Leads lower-level HVAC technicians in troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of commercial air conditioning and multi-zone heating and cooling systems that incorporate pneumatic, digital, and central energy management system controls.
• Develops heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system modification plans and estimates jobs for remodel activities.
• Creates preventive maintenance checklists for new equipment.
• Researches and selects materials for HVAC systems installation, repair, and maintenance.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Plans installation or repair to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities of other workers. Cuts pipe, using saws, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine.
• Threads pipe, using pipe threading machine.
• Bends pipe, using pipe bending tools and pipe bending machine.
• Assembles and installs variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, copper, and plastic.
• Connects pipes, using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints, and hand tools.
• Secures pipes to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers, using hand tools and power tools.
• Cleaning drilling equipment, transporting materials, repairing equipment, and making visual inspections of oil equipment. (Roustabout)

Qualifications & Experience

• • Prior experience as a service tech and knowledge of chiller systems is required.
• • Certification in HVAC technology or a related field
• • At least 5 years of experience in chiller maintenance and repair
• • Knowledge of various types of chiller systems and their components
• • Experience with refrigerant handling and recovery
• • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• • E-Verify - Eligible to work in the US
