MAINTANCE MECHANIC

Overview

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operations manuals and manufactures specifications machinery and mechanical equipment such as air compressors, fire pumps, metal shears, band saws, drill presses and other production equipment.
• Conducting regular maintenance on marine vessels, including engine repairs, electrical systems, and plumbing systems.
• Troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems.
• Conducting safety checks and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
• Fabricating and installing parts as needed.
• Maintaining accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
• Operating and maintaining tools and equipment necessary for repairs.
• Providing regular reports to management on the status of vessel maintenance and repairs.
•  Capable of using measuring instruments such as rules calipers and micrometers. 
• Operating power tools, lathes, drill presses, band saws, grinders and other equipment to be effective and efficient in repairing equipment.

Qualifications & Experience

• • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• • Experience with diesel and gasoline engines, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.
• • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and overtime
• • Possesses some skill and experience in building maintenance and repairs including boilers.
• • Experience in burning and welding would be helpful. I
• • Knowledge and experience in temporary service going aboard navy vessels would be a plus.
