Job Description
This position is responsible to perform maintenance and service for Residential HVAC customers. The Service Technician is primarily responsible for performing repairs and maintenance to a variety of equipment including air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, furnaces, split systems, flame safeguard controls, and packaged units just to name a few.
Responsibilities
- Fully understands the refrigeration cycles to include: identifying components in refrigeration circuits, understanding how each component works, diagnosing and correcting problems in the refrigeration circuit, using manifold gauge set, pressure/temperature chart, and temperature measuring devices for routine maintenance, and troubleshooting. Understands refrigeration recovery, evacuation, charging, and understands the installation and sizing of refrigerant piping.
- Fully understands and has mastered the heating cycle to include: identifying components in the heating system, understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems in the heating system using a gas pressure test and other devices for routine maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.
- Fully understands how electricity travels, AC and DC currents, single-phase, three-phase circuits, series, and parallel circuits. Ability to read advanced wiring diagrams. Knowledge of Ohms Law. Ability to use multi-meters to read voltage, current, and resistance values.
- Communicate with customers in a professional manner that represents the professionalism that Total-Group requires.
- Communicate with dispatch in a timely manner to allow for efficient dispatching of calls.
- Keep accurate documentation as requested and complete all entries of data to accurately track time and service provided.
- Technician must maintain a professional appearance at all times. Shirts tucked in clean-shaven facial hair, trimmed beard, etc.
- Ability to work under stressful situations.
- Technician will be on time as scheduled per dispatch or normal working hours. Monday-Friday 8:00am- 4:30pm. Must be willing to work an on-call rotation as scheduled.
Qualifications & Experience
- · Be able to climb or crawl into small areas
- · Lift up to 60 lbs. occasionally
- · Previous HVAC experience and/or technical training preferred.
- · Valid driver’s license
- Licensed to handle refrigerant
