Job Description

Project Manager (PM) is the Project Team Leader and Company’s Customer liaison. The Project Manager’s overarching responsibility is to provide the leadership, guidance, and support necessary to ensure the success of the project in terms of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the point of contact (POC) for project matters.
  • Set Project Team expectations and priorities
  • Monitor and report physical progress and financial status
  • Review Inspection Deficiency Reports (IDR) for completeness
  • Direct coordination efforts among Company, company subcontractors, and the Customer
  • Remove obstacles and resolve conflicts
  • Identify production inefficiencies and work with the appropriate Department Head to correct
  • Work closely with the Safety and QA departments
  • Survey the work sites regularly to gain first-hand knowledge production issues
  • Host project meetings with Company crafts and Department Heads
  • Attend requisite Customer meetings

Qualifications & Experience

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Able to secure a DBIDs
  • Able to fluently read, speak, and understand English
  • Seven plus (7+) years of experience in the ship repair industry, 2 years of which in a supervisory
  • capacity. Experience in other heavy industries may be considered.
  • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and COMPETENCIES
  • Basic knowledge of government contracting and NavSea Standard Items
  • Working knowledge of trade, QA, and Safety interdependencies
  • Working knowledge of the planning and scheduling process
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and schedules
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent people skills to work well with Customer and Company personnel
  • Ability to work independently to achieve project and Company goals
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft suite, WORD, EXCEL, OUTLOOK, and POWERPOINT
