Job Description
PeopleReady Skilled Trades is now hiring for experienced blaster painting for a yacht company in Honolulu, HI. This is a contract job for about 3 months or longer. We are looking for blasters that have a (C-7 or CAS level 2 certification) THIS IS REQUIRED.
Responsibilities
- Surface preparation: Masking areas not meant to be blasted, properly positioning and setting up blasting equipment to reach all necessary surfaces.
- Abrasive blasting operation: Operating blasting equipment to direct a stream of abrasive particles against the surface to remove contaminants.
- Abrasive selection :Choosing the appropriate type and grade of abrasive based on the material being cleaned and desired surface finish.
- Quality inspection: Visually inspecting blasted surfaces to ensure proper cleaning and surface profile is achieved.
- Safety compliance: Wearing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) like respirators, gloves, and protective clothing while following safety protocols related to blasting operations.
- Equipment maintenance:Regularly checking and maintaining blasting equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Surface profile assessment:Using specialized tools to measure the surface profile achieved after blasting to meet project specifications.
- Documentation and reporting:Maintaining records of blasting activities, including the type of abrasive used, pressure settings, and surface profile measurements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Certification: Must hold a valid SSPC C-7 certification or CAS Level 2 certification, obtained through a recognized training program.
- Surface preparation knowledge: Deep understanding of different surface preparation techniques, including the ability to achieve desired surface profiles for optimal coating adhesion.
- Abrasive selection: Expertise in choosing the appropriate abrasive based on the substrate material and desired cleaning level.
- Equipment operation: Proficiency in operating various abrasive blasting equipment, including setting up, adjusting, and maintaining the machinery.
The hourly rate for this position is $26.00-$30.00/hour. This range is a good-faith estimate based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, training, geographic location and other considerations permitted by law. An employee's pay history will not be a contributing factor where prohibited by local law. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis unless a deadline is otherwise stated.
