Job Description
PRST is hiring for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in Colton CA. You will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This role requires advanced troubleshooting of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems, as well as performing preventative maintenance and major repairs on industrial and mobile equipment.
Diagnostics and Repair

Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems using diagnostic tools and computerized testing equipment

Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, cylinders, hoses, pumps, and valves

Diagnose and repair 12V and 24V electrical systems, including wiring, sensors, and controls

Perform major mechanical repairs and component replacements as required

Consult with senior mechanics or specialists on complex repairs
Preventative Maintenance

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to maximize equipment uptime and lifespan

Change fluids, lubricate components, adjust systems, and inspect wear items

Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans

Coordinate maintenance schedules with management to minimize operational downtime
Equipment Inspection and Service

Inspect and service heavy equipment, including:

Excavators
-
Grapples and shears
-
Skid steers and bobcats
-
Forklifts
-
Other heavy industrial machinery

Service attachments such as winches, blades, and booms
-
Identify and address safety hazards or performance issues
Fabrication and Welding
-
Perform welding and metal fabrication to repair, modify, or reinforce equipment and structural components
Documentation and Inventory

Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records using CMMS software

Track parts usage, labor hours, and repair history
-
Monitor parts inventory and coordinate reordering of supplies
Safety and Team Support

Follow all safety regulations and company procedures

Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas

Provide guidance to operators on proper equipment use and preventative care

Participate in safety meetings and training programs
Responsibilities
Required Experience
5–7+ years of heavy equipment maintenance and repair experience
Strong hydraulic troubleshooting and repair experience
Electrical diagnostic experience with 12V and 24V systems
Welding and metal fabrication experience
Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
Experience using diagnostic tools and computerized maintenance systems
Preferred
Experience with CMMS software
Experience in industrial, recycling, construction, or heavy manufacturing environments
The hourly rate for this position is $35 - $40/hour. This range is a good-faith estimate based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, training, geographic location and other considerations permitted by law.
