Job Description

PeopleReady Skilled Trades is now hiring for yacht carpenters. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Yacht Carpenter to join our team and contribute to the construction, repair, and renovation of yachts and luxury boats. The ideal candidate will have expertise in marine carpentry, with a focus on quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Fabrication and Installation: Construct, assemble, and install custom wooden components, such as cabinetry, bulkheads, decking, and interior furnishings, using a variety of woodworking tools and techniques.

Repairs and Maintenance: Perform repairs on damaged or worn wooden structures and surfaces, ensuring they are restored to original condition or improved for better performance.

Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and design plans to accurately create or modify wooden components in line with specifications.

Materials Selection: Choose appropriate wood types and materials for various projects, ensuring durability and suitability for the marine environment.

Finish Work: Sand, stain, varnish, and apply other finishes to completed wooden structures and surfaces for a high-quality, polished appearance.

Collaborative Work: Work closely with other tradespeople, including electricians, plumbers, and marine engineers, to ensure all projects are completed efficiently and in compliance with safety regulations.

Compliance: Ensure all work complies with relevant marine industry standards and safety regulations.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in marine carpentry, yacht building, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery. Experience with laminating, veneering, and custom joinery is a plus.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional craftsmanship and attention to fine details, ensuring that all work is of the highest quality.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings with precision.
  • Physical Stamina: Capable of performing physically demanding tasks such as lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt designs based on client needs and project requirements.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations specific to marine environments.

The hourly rate for this position is $28.00-$35.00/hour. This range is a good-faith estimate based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, training, geographic location and other considerations permitted by law.
