In 2017, in need of skilled tradespeople and skilled and general laborers for a large-scale solar project in a remote area of Northern Utah, RES (Renewable Energy Systems) partnered with PeopleReady Skilled Trades.
Since 2017, we’ve dispatched more than 3,500 tradespeople to 17 RES projects across eight states. Throughout our partnership, we’ve completed seven utility-scale solar projects, totaling 1.25GW.
Why This Partnership Works

A SKILLED WORKFORCE
From licensed electricians that meet a specific state’s requirements to licensed welders with the credentials needed for certain jobs, RES knows we can deliver. RES also appreciates that we’re “willing to help and excited to find solutions,” says Jeremy Teresinski, RES project manager. By drawing from our nationwide pool of skilled solar workers, we’ve helped RES reduce turnover and save on training hours. In fact, RES credits us with a substantial drop in turnover rate on one project: from 70% to their goal of under 30%.
RESPONSIVENESS
Many RES projects are in remote areas and constructing them takes a lot of workers. “Having a partner that’s responsive to our needs and communicates and gives honest feedback is appreciated,” Eichinger says. The company highly values our responsiveness at every level, from onsite managers to payroll personnel. “They all understand we need to deal with issues quickly so we can focus on business,” he says. “We’re all aligned.” One example he cites of our willingness “to go above and beyond” was creating a solution to better integrate the RES and PeopleReady timekeeping and financial systems. “It’s working really well,” Eichinger adds.
ONSITE MANAGEMENT
By having our managers onsite to provide support for daily operations and safety practices, the RES team is able to better manage overall site productivity. This support helps keep projects on budget and on schedule. PeopleReady’s onsite managers, Eichinger says, do an exceptional job of keeping RES informed of potential issues—and then taking the initiative to find solutions instead of looking to RES to do so. “By the time it gets to us, it’s already complete. We don’t have to get involved. They’re always managing it, which means we don’t get taken away from our goal of safely completing renewable energy projects.”
SAFETY FIRST
From safety-specific assessments for each worker to onsite, safety-specific training prior to the start of every RES project, we demonstrate safety is our No. 1 priority and RES knows it. Our Right Match Dispatch means we’re not just matching RES with the first available workers. They’re getting tradespeople who have the skill level and experience needed for their solar projects. The result: The Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) is below 1.0. “We take safety very seriously at RES,” Eichinger says. “We expect that from all of our partners.”
