Staying Sharp by Prioritizing Circular Saw Safety
From carpentry to masonry, circular saws are a staple on jobsites across the trades. If you handle circular saws on an everyday basis, you know how vital they are for making precise cuts through a variety of metals. But with their versatility comes the need for proper safety measures. Operating them unsafely could lead to serious injuries, so staying informed is key. Ensure your safety with these four essential tips from our team at PRST and keep sawing like the pro that you are.
Always use safety glasses
Everyday eyeglasses are not considered safety glasses. Please also wear a face or dust mask if cutting operation is dusty.
Keep hands away from cutting area
Ensure one hand is positioned away from the blade and its path, and your second hand is on the auxiliary handle or motor housing. Better yet, have both hands holding the saw!
Don’t reach underneath the workpiece
Another no-touch area is below the workpiece. The guard on the saw will not protect you from the blade below the workpiece.
Adjust cutting depth
Before you begin, adjust the cutting depth to the thickness of the workpiece. Less than a full tooth of the blade should be visible below the workpiece.
By following these tips, you can ensure precision while reducing the risk of injury, So, keep these safety measures top of mind every time you power up your saw.
