Job Description

PeopleReady Skilled Trades is now hiring experienced Journey Level Marine Industrial Painters to support one of the West Coast's premier ship repair and marine maintenance facilities. If you have experience with industrial coatings, surface preparation, and marine painting, this is an excellent opportunity to work on commercial and government vessels while enjoying weekly pay, health insurance, and flexible scheduling.

  • Prepare steel and aluminum surfaces through abrasive blasting, grinding, sanding, and power tool cleaning.
  • Fill cracks and imperfections and apply primers and sealers to prepared surfaces.
  • Apply industrial and marine coating systems using brush, roller, conventional spray, and airless spray equipment.
  • Mix coatings and colors to manufacturer specifications for proper finish and durability.
  • Perform hull, topside, structural steel, and tank painting.
  • Work with commercial coating systems including:
    • Inorganic Zinc
    • Epoxy Coatings
    • Polysiloxane Copolymers
    • Other high-performance industrial coating systems
  • Maintain proper coating thickness and quality standards.
  • Safely use ladders, lifts, and other access equipment while maintaining a clean work area.
  • Bring and maintain your own painter's hand tools.

Responsibilities


  • Journey-level painting experience in marine, industrial, commercial, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Experience with surface preparation, blasting, and industrial coatings.
  • Knowledge of airless spray equipment and protective coating applications.
  • Familiarity with SSPC/NACE surface preparation standards is a plus.
  • Ability to work safely in shipyards, around vessels, at heights, and in confined spaces.
  • Reliable transportation and standard painter's tools.

The hourly rate for this position is $30- $40/hour. This range is a good-faith estimate based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, training, geographic location and other considerations permitted by law.
