- Riprap Placement: Manually placing, sorting, and arranging large stones, rocks, or broken concrete to form stable erosion-resistant barriers.
- Site Preparation: Clearing vegetation, grading, excavating, and smoothing surfaces along shorelines, riverbanks, or slopes.
- Filter Fabric/Geotextile Installation: Laying down, anchoring, and securing filter fabric behind or under the riprap to prevent soil erosion.
- Equipment Operation & Rigging: Operating small mechanical hoists, power tools, tampers, and assisting with rigging for cranes or excavators.
- Marine Construction Support: Assisting with tasks such as driving piles, setting formwork for concrete caps, and installing tie-backs.
- Safety Compliance: Maintaining a safe job site by adhering to OSHA regulations, wearing PPE, and managing materials to prevent environmental damage.
Responsibilities
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must have PPE, and reliable transportation.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy materials, work in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, mud), and stand for long periods.
- Experience: Previous experience in construction, marine, or landscaping, specifically with erosion control or heavy material handling.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of, or ability to learn, proper placement techniques for material stability (e.g., proper slope angle, interlocking rocks).
- Tools Proficiency: Skilled in using hand tools (shovels, picks) and power tools.
- Teamwork: Ability to work closely with machinery operators, surveyors, and other crew members to meet project deadlines.
The hourly rate for this position is $20.00-$23.00/hour. This range is a good-faith estimate based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, training, geographic location and other considerations permitted by law. An employee's pay history will not be a contributing factor where prohibited by local law. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis unless a deadline is otherwise stated.
