Job Description
PeopleReady Skilled Trades is now hiring for an experienced welding supervisor in Bremerton, WA. Qualified candidates must have marine industry experience and previously held a supervisory position. This position is directly responsible for managing the welding department including all personnel, materials, methods, and equipment. This position is also responsible for coordinating with other company departments to balance company objectives while maintaining a positive, respectful productive team atmosphere.

Responsibilities
· Plan, schedule, and oversee activities of the welding department at two facilities located within the same industrial park.
· Proactively resolve conflict and address personnel and disciplinary issues
· Deliver ongoing training and guidance to all team members and support a positive and respectful team culture
· Ensure regular production, quality, and safety targets are met
· Track production manhours and build schedules
· Liaise with customers, suppliers, other departments including engineering to ensure requirements are met
· Develop and implement initiatives to improve department processes using industry standards and IMS developed procedures
· Manage health, safety, and environmental systems according to industry regulations
· Strive for extremely high quality, get it right the first-time principles
· Communicate engineering problems in a timely and efficient manner
· Ensure proper maintenance of tools and equipment by all employees
· Supervise, train, and motivate team-members
· Manage department consumables and track related expenses.
· Develop, maintain, and oversee quality accountability systems
· Weld as needed to assist and lead department through example
Qualifications & Experience
- • 5+ years of experience in Aluminum Boat Building
- • 10+ years of welding experience
- • 2+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- • Strong leadership skills
- • Strong Lean Manufacturing knowledge and experience with continuous improvement
- • Experience building, testing, and implementing process improvements
- • Strong understanding of American Welding Society Weld Standards and all varieties of welding processes
- • Track record of achieving deadlines and maintaining quality and safety targets
- • Excellent communication skills and ability to motivate a team
- • Proven ability to manage priorities and efficiently solve problems
- • Ability to read blueprints and engineering fabrication drawings
- • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- • Knowledgeable in tracking production hours and accurately building production schedules.
The hourly rate for this position is $36.00-$42.00/hour. This range is a good-faith estimate based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, training, geographic location and other considerations permitted by law.
