Responsibilities
A sheet metal mechanic fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal products and structures, using hand and power tools, machines, and blueprints to create and modify metal parts for various applications
Responsibilities:
Fabrication and Assembly: Cutting, bending, shaping, and joining sheet metal pieces to create desired forms and structures.
Installation and Repair: Installing fabricated sheet metal components and performing repairs and maintenance.
Blueprint Interpretation: Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and specifications to guide fabrication and installation.
Tool and Equipment Operation: Utilizing a variety of hand and power tools, as well as machinery like shears, brakes, and presses.
Welding and Joining: Employing welding, soldering, riveting, or bolting to join metal pieces.
Material Selection: Choosing appropriate types and gauges of sheet metal for specific applications.
Quality Control: Inspecting work for accuracy and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of verifiable work experience as a sheet metal mechanic
- Must have tools of the trade
- Shipyard experience preferred
- Must be able to pass drug screen and background check to work on site.
- Must be a US Citizen. Must be able to provide proof of citizenship to work on site.
The hourly rate for this position is $28.00/hour. This range is a good-faith estimate based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, training, geographic location and other considerations permitted by law. An employee's pay history will not be a contributing factor where prohibited by local law. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis unless a deadline is otherwise stated.
