Job Description
PeopleReady Skilled Trades is now hiring for experienced Pipefitters for Nassco’s Norfolk yard in Norfolk, VA. Must have shipyard experience. Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen in order to obtain a DBIDs. Competitive pay from $26.00-$30.00 an hour DOE.

Responsibilities
Marine pipefitters are responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of pipes and pipe systems on ships and other watercraft. They work with a variety of systems, including hydraulics, steam, hot water, and air pressure.
Responsibilities
- Design: Use blueprints to select the right materials and equipment, and determine the layout of the pipe system
- Fabrication: Cut, thread, bend, and shape pipes using hand and power tools
- Installation: Attach pipes to walls and fixtures using tools, brackets, or welding equipment
- Repair: Troubleshoot and fix damaged pipes, valves, and other equipment
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on pipe systems, including pressure testing
- Quality assurance: Monitor the quality of pipes and materials, and ensure specifications are met
- Documentation: Maintain records of pipe dimensions, materials, and installation procedures
Qualifications & Experience
- Must have a minimum of 4 years of experience as a Pipefitter.
- Shipyard experience preferred but not required.
- Must have tools of the trade.
- Must be able to access all Navy installations and other shipyards.
- Must be able to pass drug screen and background check to work on site.
- Must be a US Citizen. Must be able to provide proof of citizenship to work on site.
- Must be able to enter confined spaces, work at heights and in confining or restricted spaces aboard vessels under construction/repair.
- Physical dexterity must allow for bending, reaching, climbing, crawling, and working on ladders and scaffolding. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds of weight. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to vapors, gases, dust, welding/burning fumes, and smoke.
- Must be able to spend up to 90% of time in an outdoor shipyard environment in all climates. The noise level is usually moderate to extremely noisy 90% of the time, which may include sirens, horns, chipping, and hammering
The hourly rate for this position is $26.00-$30.00/hour. This range is a good-faith estimate based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, training, geographic location and other considerations permitted by law. An employee's pay history will not be a contributing factor where prohibited by local law. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis unless a deadline is otherwise stated.
