Responsibilities
Experience & Qualifications
4+ years of directly related leadership experience OR 8+ years of shipbuilding/ship repair experience
Highly qualified Journeyman Pipefitter with proven leadership ability
Strong knowledge of marine piping systems, shipboard equipment, construction, and repair methods
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, isometrics, schematics, and technical documents
Knowledge of pressure testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and quality control
Leadership & Management
Lead and coordinate Journeyman and Apprentice Pipefitters
Assign work, prioritize tasks, coach employees, resolve conflicts, and provide feedback
Plan manpower and coordinate resources to meet schedule, quality, productivity, and cost goals
Mentor apprentices and support employee training and development
Promote safety, accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement
Participate in employee evaluations and performance discussions
Technical Responsibilities
Oversee installation, repair, modification, testing, and troubleshooting of marine piping systems
Work with fuel oil, hydraulic, seawater, potable water, fire suppression, bilge/ballast, HVAC, and exhaust systems
Coordinate pressure testing, flushing, inspections, and system turnover
Monitor workmanship and correct quality issues
Ensure crews have the necessary tools, materials, permits, specifications, and equipment
Safety & Work Environment
Knowledge of shipyard safety practices
Understand confined-space and lockout/tagout procedures
Able to work aboard vessels, climb ladders, enter tanks and confined spaces, and wear required PPE
Able to physically access all areas of the shipyard
Comfortable working outdoors throughout the year
Communication & Coordination
Coordinate with Shipfitters, Welders, Machinists, Electricians, Project Managers, QA, customers, and other stakeholders
Attend production meetings and communicate project expectations
Review employee timecards and labor/phase coding
Assist with estimating, labor projections, and constructability recommendations
Maintain positive working relationships across teams

Production-related software
Microsoft Project experience preferred
The hourly rate for this position is $40/hour. This range is a good-faith estimate based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, training, geographic location and other considerations permitted by law.
