Job Description
Product Quality Assurance
-
Review and interpret shop drawings and fabrication details to confirm clarity, accuracy, and buildability.

Inspect in-process and completed steel components for dimensional accuracy, weld quality, surface finish, and compliance with specifications.

Identify, document, and track nonconformances involving welds, materials, or fitment.

Work directly with welders and fabricators to coach best practices and improve quality output.

Ensure fabrication processes meet industry standards and internal quality requirements.
Technical Communication & Collaboration

Serve as the technical liaison between the CAD design team and the fabrication shop.

Participate in drawing reviews and identify buildability concerns early in the process.

Provide feedback to engineers and designers to reduce rework and improve drawing clarity.

Partner with shop leads and supervisors to troubleshoot real-time fabrication issues.
Process Integrity & Continuous Improvement

Maintain and improve inspection checklists, SOPs, and quality documentation systems.

Support internal audits and ensure QA procedures are consistently followed.

Analyze recurring quality issues and recommend technical or process improvements.

Promote a culture of precision, accountability, and craftsmanship throughout the shop.
Responsibilities

- Be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel and walk for extended periods throughout the day with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
5+ years of experience in steel fabrication, welding inspection, or structural manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of welding principles, fabrication tolerances, grinding/finishing, and coatings.
Ability to visually inspect welds for penetration, continuity, defects, and finish quality.
Proficiency reading and interpreting structural steel drawings, fabrication details, and tolerance callouts.
Experience collaborating with CAD designers and engineering teams.
Skilled in using measurement and inspection tools (calipers, tape measures, levels, angle finders, etc.).
Strong communication, organization, and follow-through abilities.
Associate’s degree in a technical discipline preferred (or equivalent industry experience).
The hourly rate for this position is $30 - $42/hour. This range is a good-faith estimate based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, training, geographic location and other considerations permitted by law.
