Job Description
Responsibilities
- Assign work: Distribute daily tasks to crew members and track project schedules
- Train and mentor: Teach junior workers and apprentices safe trade practices and technical skills.
- Inspect quality: Check ongoing and finished work for compliance with blueprints and marine standards.
- Coordinate teams: Work alongside project managers, engineers, and other shipyard trades
- Read blueprints: Interpret complex technical drawings, schematics, and isometric plans.
- Oversee fabrication: Guide pipe cutting, bending, threading, and welding operations.
- Manage testing: Supervise hydrostatic, pressure, and drop testing of installed systems.
- Troubleshoot issues: Diagnose system failures onboard vessels or in the shop and implement fixes
- Enforce protocols: Ensure adherence to OSHA, NAVSEA, or military marine standards.
- Maintain records: Log project progress, material usage, and inspection results.
The hourly rate for this position is $35-$38/hour. This range is a good-faith estimate based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, training, geographic location and other considerations permitted by law. An employee's pay history will not be a contributing factor where prohibited by local law. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis unless a deadline is otherwise stated.
