Job Description

 Medical Gas Plumber, you need in-depth knowledge of plumbing systems, medical gas installation, and relevant building codes, supported by a plumber's license and specialized medical gas certification. Proficiency with tools like pipe threaders, gas analyzers, and leak testing equipment, along with compliance to NFPA 99 standards, is essential. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills help you excel in both independent and team environments. These competencies ensure safe, code-compliant installation and maintenance of medical gas systems critical to healthcare facilities.

Responsibilities

 Installing, assembling, and repairing medical gas pipelines, valves, and gauges in hospitals and clinics.
Safety Compliance: Ensuring all systems comply with NFPA 99 standards, as well as local, state, and federal codes.
Testing and Inspection: Conducting pressure tests, leak tests, and inspections of piping systems to ensure they are safe and functional.
Brazing/Soldering: Utilizing specialized high-temperature brazing techniques to join copper pipe, ensuring airtight, clean, and secure joints.
Blueprint Interpretation: Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and project plans to locate pipe positions.
Maintenance and Repair: Performing preventative maintenance and repairing existing medical gas systems to prevent system failures.

Certification: Must hold a Medical Gas Installer license (typically ASSE 6010).
Previous experience in commercial plumbing, often a minimum of 2–5 years.
Strong knowledge of medical gas systems, brazing techniques, and safety procedures.
Often requires a valid Journeyman Plumber's license

The hourly rate for this position is $48.00-53.00/hour. This range is a good-faith estimate based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, training, geographic location and other considerations permitted by law.
