Job Description
• Must have an excellent understanding of electrical safety and good work practices
• Must be able to perform his/her job in the appropriate time frame without on-site supervision.
• Must have good personal skills working with others.
• Must be capable of guiding and training junior Temporary Service electricians with minimum supervision.
• Must know applicable NAVSEA Standard Item, OSHA standards, and regulatory body regulations.
• Must be able to collect viable information for required condition reports.
• Must be able to assist J-4 Trade in collection of information for Condition Found Reports.
• Must be able to identify defects in workmanship and the appropriate actions required to correct the defects
• Must be proficient at reading and interpreting schematics with minimum guidance of a supervisor or lead electrician.
• Must be capable of laying-out and installing Temporary Service Electrical equipment and cabling with minimum guidance of a supervisor or lead electrician.
• Must have a good fundamental understanding on how to use electrical test equipment in-way of trouble-shooting, testing and circuit analysis of Temporary Service Electrical equipment.
• Must have well-defined knowledge of building, maintaining, troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical problems to component level on Temporary Service Electrical equipment with minimum guidance of a supervisor or lead electrician.
Responsibilities
- Performs installation, repairs, and maintenance in accordance with diagrams, drawings, schematics and the national electrical codes.
- Must understand ship nomenclature - be able to describe compartment listings, identify locations and navigate vessels.
- Must have experience in commercial and residential electrical work.
- Capable of and experienced in controller installation and repairs.
- Be able to plan an installation and draw up material list.
- Demonstrates proper use of electrical test equipment to include multimeter, amp probe, and megger.
- Must have some experience in phone and data cabling.
Qualifications & Experience
- • Minimum of 2 years Marine Electrical Experience
- • DBIDS eligible
- • US Citizen
- Must be able to operate the following:
- Power Tools
- Drill Presses
- Band Saws
- Grinders
- Other equipmet to be effective and efficient in electrical work.
