Job Description
- Overhaul, install, inspect, test, and repair shipboard machinery and equipment.
- Work on electric and electrohydraulic winches, anchor windlasses, steering gear, air compressors, pumps, and motors.
- Perform pump and motor alignment, valve repairs, diesel engine repairs, hydraulic troubleshooting, and reduction gear repairs.
- Repair generators, boat davits, bearings, gas turbines, louvers, aircraft elevators, cranes, brakes, resilient mounts, and other assigned equipment.
- Perform work involving underwater hull strainer plates, emitter belts, OD box removal and installation, sliding pad eyes, and RAST tracks.
- Perform bearing fit-up and installation.
- Support machinery troubleshooting, testing, and verification of completed repairs.
- Perform shafting repairs and alignment for fixed-pitch and controllable-pitch systems.
- Remove and install propellers.
- Repair and install rudders.
- Follow applicable technical specifications and work instructions when performing propulsion-related work.
Responsibilities
- Ability to obtain DBIDS and NAVSEA badges for access to required Navy installations, vessels, and shipyard facilities.
- Availability for occasional weekend work and extended hours as needed.
- Ability to travel up to 30% when required.
The hourly rate for this position is $24.00-$28/hour. This range is a good-faith estimate based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, training, geographic location and other considerations permitted by law.
