Job Description
- Read and interpret insulation drawings and assist with layouts and installations.
- Install sheet rubber, tube rubber, fiberglass pipe covering, fiberglass cloth, and hull board on piping, ventilation ductwork, overheads, bulkheads, and other ship structures.
- Install calcium silicate insulation on steam systems and apply finishing cement to seams.
- Design, fabricate, and install lagging pads on pipe flanges, valves, ventilation systems, and engine exhaust systems.
- Fabricate and install calcium silicate miters, box beams, and insulation wraps as required.
- Use measuring tools and standard insulation equipment safely and effectively.
- Identify appropriate insulation materials and follow shipyard safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Demonstrate knowledge of ship nomenclature, compartment locations, and applicable insulation standards based on experience level.

Responsibilities
- Minimum of one year of shipyard experience.
- Qualifications and demonstrated skills appropriate to Journeyman Level 1- 4.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Must pass required drug screening and background checks.
- Must be eligible to obtain DBIDS and NAVSEA badges for access to applicable Navy installations and shipyard facilities.
- Must comply with all applicable shipyard safety and training requirements.

The hourly rate for this position is $22.00-$25/hour. This range is a good-faith estimate based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, training, geographic location and other considerations permitted by law. An employee's pay history will not be a contributing factor where prohibited by local law. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis unless a deadline is otherwise stated.
