Job Description

As a MIG Welder on 18G Sheet Metal with PeopleReady Skilled Trades, you’ll support a well-established, mechanical construction company working at a hospital in the Medical Center of Houston, TX. This position is welding 18 Gauge stainless steel sheet metal for duct installation. In this temporary role, you’ll earn $28 to $30 an hour, enjoy weekly pay and health insurance benefits. Responsibilities

• Hours: Monday – Friday, 6 am – 2:30 pm, with occasional OT

• Fabricate and assemble sheet metal products and components according to specifications, blueprints, and engineering drawings.

• Laying out and measuring pieces to specifications, cutting and shaping material, and assembling and joining the pieces.

• Performing several short welds at strategic locations to secure the position of the thin sheet metal. 

• Grinding and polishing rough surfaces or the seams and joints between two sheets of metals.

• Assisting with hanging and Installing Commercial Duct & Risers for HVAC Systems in a hospital

• Identify and troubleshoot issues or defects in sheet metal products or installations and make necessary repairs or adjustments.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including properly storing tools and equipment, to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.

• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries while working with sheet metal.

Qualifications & Experience

  • • Be at least 18 years of age
  • • Current MIG welding certification in required
  • • OSHA-10 Construction Certification is required
  • • Minimum of 4 years of experience required in MIG welding on sheet metal for ductwork.
  • • Ability to fabricate and MIG weld on 18 Gauge Stainless Steel Sheet Metal for ductwork.
  • • Ability to assist in the installation of the ductwork as needed.
  • • Ability to stand, bend, kneel and walk for extended periods throughout the day with or without reasonable accommodation
  • • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
  • • Prior experience working from heights and in tight spaces required.
  • • Position does require a drug screen
  • • Position does require a background check
  • The hourly rate for this position is $28-$30/hour. This range is a good-faith estimate based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, training, geographic location and other considerations permitted by law.
