Job Description
As a Traveling Sign Installer with PeopleReady Skilled Trades, you’ll support a local sign company based in Houston, TX! This growing company is extending its reach even farther outside of Texas and needs a team to do the installations. This unique job requires the tradesperson to have 1 year of experience in both Stick Welding AND a Licensed Apprentice Electrician. In this temp-to-hire role, you’ll earn $25 to $35 an hour, depending upon experience, and enjoy weekly pay. You can also earn prizes as part of our Respect the Craft tradesperson recognition program.

Responsibilities
• Hours: when traveling are 60-80/week, hotel and gas are covered by the company. (3-6 weeks at a time)
• Hours: when local at the yard will typically be around 40 hrs./wk. (1-2 weeks at a time)
• Review the blueprints and schematics to ensure proper installation.
• Weld using mostly Stick, and some MIG, to install the signs which consist of carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum.
• Connect wiring for electrical components of the signs and perform any troubleshooting if needed.
• Work at heights of up to 63’ in the air while harnessed in a manlift on the truck.
• Troubleshoot problems and issues while on the job site for an install. Work with your team to solve problems and complete the job as safely as possible.
• Follow all instructions, both oral and written, given by the site supervisor and assist other tradespeople as needed.
• Complete all necessary safety and training meetings and courses to stay compliant.
Qualifications & Experience
- • MUST have One Year Minimum of experience as a Stick Welder AND a Licensed Electrician. (no exceptions)
- • Current/active TDLR Electrician license
- • Current/Active Stick Welding Certification
- • Ability to perform Stick welding on steel and aluminum
- • Ability to connect and terminate wiring for electrical components.
- • Must be willing to travel all over Texas and out of state for 21 to 45 days at a time.
- • Must own all your own hand and power tools and have the ability to bring them with you. Any specialized tools will be provided by the company.
- • Ability to stand, bend, kneel and walk for extended periods throughout the day with or without reasonable accommodation
- • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
- • Prior experience in the Commercial Sign Installation field preferred
- • Prior experience using/driving a CMV crane truck or having a CDL A is a HUGE PLUS!
- • Position does require a drug screen
