Job Description

As a Pipe Welder with PeopleReady Skilled Trades, you’ll support electrical contractors throughout Memphis, TN. and the surrounding area. In this full time role, you’ll earn up to $27 an hour (based on experience), enjoy weekly pay, and health insurance benefits.

Responsibilities

Hours: 5 X 8's


  • Assembles pieces of metal together or repairs damaged metal components using heavy machinery that emits high heat, melting the metal into shape
  • Reviews blueprints, cutting metal into the appropriate shape and smoothing molten metal to remove creases
  • Prepares working materials by clamping, cutting or applying chemical solutions to piping
  • Examines completed welds to ensure they are free of defects, smooth, and functional
  • Observes state and local building regulations, as well as all safety codes while working to ensure a safe working environment


Qualifications & Experience

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • have at least 2-5 Years of of paid / verifiable pipe welding experience
  • Competent with reading blueprints, drawings, & diagrams
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel and walk for extended periods throughout the day
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without reasonable accommodation
  • Have experience as a pipe welder, ideally in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment
  • Knowledge of welding techniques including wire feed, gas flow, and heat settings
  • Have experience using grinders and torches
  • Ability to pay strong attention to detail and to inspect work for highest quality
  • Have strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot welding defects and issues
  • Good communication skills to collaborate with team members and supervisors
  • Understand safety standards and proper use of PPE
  • Must be able to work at least 40 hours a week and overtime if required
  • Applicant(s) must have reliable transportation
  • Able to work overtime
  • Complete / pass pre-employment background check and drug screen
  • The hourly rate for this position is $26-$27/hour. This range is a good-faith estimate based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, training, geographic location and other considerations permitted by law.
