Job Description

PeopleReady Skilled Trades – is hiring for a Lead Journeyman Carpenter III, Payrate $32 to $40 an Hour. Custom Home Project is available in Mountain View and surrounding areas. A Carpenter III has mastered the necessary skill set to bring a construction project through all phases of construction from rough to finish. A Carpenter III builds at a journeyman carpenter level. A Carpenter III is able to lead and build large, complex projects (up to $2.5M) under the supervision of a Field Manager to advise and provide guidance and direction as needed to accomplish the project scope. The Carpenter III also works with the administrative assistance of a Project Manager, to deliver projects within schedule and budget.

Responsibilities

Hours:

Full-time position. Needs to be available Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.


Job Duties

• Reviews sales packages prior to selling a project as requested.

• Possesses construction knowledge to be able to advise the team during the construction phase.

• Completely understands the scope of work by reading the contract and specifications.

• Recognizes any discrepancies between drawings and jobsite conditions, report them to Filed Manager, Project Manager and

Sales/Designer, problem-solve in a team-spirited atmosphere, and make appropriate corrections.

• Keeps job on time and on budget using on-going job calendars and job cost reports as primary management tools with the

assistance of the Project Manager.

• Creates job calendars to forecast material and people’s needs.

• Builds a to plumb and level tolerances regulated by Company standards and be able to recognize and correct existing out of plumb

and level conditions.

• Determines necessary flashings and waterproofing requirements at all exterior finishes (such as doors, windows, siding, decks

and ledgers, showers, tubs, curb less bathrooms).

• Schedules all subcontractors, verifies their scope of work, and ensures the site is ready for them.

• Initiates change orders as needed with the Project Manager, and Filed Manager as needed.

• Schedules and handles inspections with the Building Departments

• Conducts weekly site meetings with client, Project Manager and Sales/Designer.

• Provides daily Builder Trend updates and photo chronicles of the project.

• Trains other carpenters and apprentices.

• Along with the Filed Manager owns timekeeping entries, ensures all co-workers’ time entries are completed with consistency in phase coding and daily.

• Completes electronic job task summaries weekly and email to Assistant Project Manager by Monday morning.

• Turn in all invoices weekly with proper job name and phase code. Note time and materials if applicable.

• Demonstrate the safe and proper use of all power tools and safety equipment. Enforce these same safe practices for all individuals on the project.

• Keep the jobsite clean and orderly.

• Act in a professional manner.

• Employee Owners may occasionally be asked to perform work on special assignments in addition to normal job duties.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Physical Requirements:
  • Walks, sits, stands, bends, kneels, lifts, and moves continually during working hours. Is subject to lifting over 50 pounds. Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination

  • Technical Competence:
  • Performs all job duties with minimal direction. Demonstrates good decision-making ability. Follows all Policies and Procedures. Can lead projects up to $2.5M) with supervision of a Field Manager
  • Experience/Requirements
  • A Journeyman level Carpenter who has 10+ years of experience in construction and is highly skilled in all aspects of remodeling and construction. Interprets blueprints, specifications and estimates for material take-offs, and structural considerations (e.g. load bearing walls). Possesses and demonstrates a journeyman skill level in rough carpentry, structural aspects, and all areas of finish carpentry necessary to build a project independently. Reads, comprehends, and follows the requirements of factory specifications of all materials used on the project. Demonstrates the necessary characteristics to be the leader of the project (such as be on time, proactive, organized, professional, supportive and composed).
