Job Description
PeopleReady Skilled Trades is now hiring maintenance mechanic for Nassco’s Norfolk yard in Norfolk, VA. We are looking for maintenance mechanics that have commercial and industrial experience. Shift is 6:00 AM to 2:45 PM Must be able to work night shift (as needed) The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of experience as an maintenance mechanic in the marine shipyard industry. This position is temp to perm. Competitive pay from $27-$30 an hour DOE.

Responsibilities
- Reads and interpret Insulation drawings, layout, and install.
- Design and fabricate lagging pads.
- Install lagging pads on pipe flanges, valves, ventilation systems, and engine exhaust systems.
- Fabricate miters out of calcium silicate.
- Install calcium silicate and fabricated miters on properly.
Qualifications & Experience
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience as an insulator.
- Must have marine/shipyard experience .
- Must be able to take Mold remedation classes
- Must have tools of the trade.
- Must be able to access all Navy installations and other shipyards.
- Must be a US Citizen and Must be ale to pass a background check and drug screen in order to obtain a DBIDs.
- Must be able to enter confined spaces, work at heights and in confining or restricted spaces aboard vessels under construction/repair. Physical dexterity must allow for bending, reaching, climbing, crawling, and working on ladders and scaffolding. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds of weight. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to vapors, gases, dust, welding/burning fumes, and smoke. Must be able to spend up to 90% of time in an outdoor shipyard environment in all climates. The noise level is usually moderate to extremely noisy 90% of the time, which may include sirens, horns, chipping, and hammering.
The hourly rate for this position is $25.00-$30.00/hour. This range is a good-faith estimate based on factors such as relevant skills, experience, education, training, geographic location and other considerations permitted by law. An employee's pay history will not be a contributing factor where prohibited by local law. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis unless a deadline is otherwise stated.
