Job Description

Should be proficient in using SMAW, GMAW and FCAW welding process.
Quality of weld should be acceptable for N.D.T. should be able to weld steel, aluminum, copper nickel, stainless steel. Should be able to read weld gauges.

• Possesses standard tools for a welder.
• Able to work different shifts.
• Must have good knowledge of ship board spaces.
• Must have knowledge of weld symbols.
• Must pass HY-80 Pipe Test 6G (SMAW)
• Must pass Flux-core HY 80 test.
• Must pass Aluminum Plate test.
• Tack weld 11018 (SMAW).
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Must be able to safely hook up and operate a torch.
• Must have knowledge of WAFs
• Must be able to follow instructions and work well with others.

Responsibilities

Marine structural welders often work on the assembly or modification of components below the surface of the water, so much of your time is spent diving to assess issues and perform the necessary work using specialized underwater welding equipment

Qualifications & Experience

  • Should have knowledge of welding on different types of base metals (HY-80 & HY-100).
  • Know the different wire and gas combinations.
  • Should be proficient in using SMAW, GMAW and FCAW welding process.
  • Quality of weld should be acceptable for N.D.T. should be able to weld steel, aluminum, copper nickel, stainless steel.
  • Should be able to read weld gauges.
  • Should be able to use hand tools.
  • Some guidance from supervision will be needed.
  • Must know standard item 1689 and the guide lines of 5 S.
