Job Description
PeopleReady Skilled Trades is now hiring for experienced Welders in Norfolk, VA. Must have shipyard experience. Must be able to pass a background check in order to obtain DBIDs. Must be able to pass a drug screen. Pay range from $24-$30 an hour depending on experience.
Responsibilities
Should have knowledge of welding on different types of base metals (HY-80 & HY-100).
Know the different wire and gas combinations.
Should be proficient in using SMAW, GMAW and FCAW welding process.
Quality of weld should be acceptable for N.D.T. should be able to weld steel, aluminum, copper nickel, stainless steel.
Should be able to read weld gauges.
Should be able to use hand tools.
Some guidance from supervision will be needed.
Must know standard item 1689 and the guide lines of 5S.
Qualifications & Experience
- Should be proficient in using SMAW, GMAW and FCAW welding process.
- Quality of weld should be acceptable for N.D.T. should be able to weld steel, aluminum, copper nickel, stainless steel. Should be able to read weld gauges.
- • Possesses standard tools for a welder.
- • Able to work different shifts.
- • Must have good knowledge of ship board spaces.
- • Must have knowledge of weld symbols.
- • Must pass HY-80 Pipe Test 6G (SMAW)
- • Must pass Flux-core HY 80 test.
- • Must pass Aluminum Plate test.
- • Tack weld 11018 (SMAW).
- • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- • Must be able to safely hook up and operate a torch.
- • Must have knowledge of WAFs
- • Must be able to follow instructions and work well with others.
